Foxes Island Dry Riesling 2016

The Riesling vines grow in a very stony, lower, bowl shaped terrace on the Awatere Estate next to the river’s edge. John keeps the Riesling style very pure, focused and restrained; capturing the true essence of the grape and the site.  The juice is protected all through the winemaking process to ensure the wine develops the layers of flavours that we all love, in the bottle.
John’s Rieslings are designed to age, so enjoy on release or continue cellaring for another 10-15 years, or longer.

Aromas of citrus blossom and ripe nectarine fill the glass whilst flavours of white peach, lime and wet stone flavours are accented with a slight hint of fennel and salinity. The focused length and fresh acidity makes this wine extremely versatile and delicious.

A perfect expression of Riesling with aromas and textures of white peach and lemon. A touch of lime too with a fine lees and floral synergy. A silk touch on the palate is contrasted by flavours of citrus and tree fruits and carried through the palate with a ripe acid line. Gets even better at 12 Celsius revealing more concentration and power. Lengthy finish, well-made and delicious. Best drinking from 2023 through 2033.
