Foxes Island 2009 Riesling

Belsham Awatere Estate

Riesling is one of the great white wines of the world that rewards those with patience and continually challenges and inspires me as a winemaker. – John Belsham

Decidedly focused and finely textured, the 2009 Riesling captures the stony vineyard in which it grows. Aromas of citrus blossom and ripe nectarine fill the glass whilst flavours of white peach, lime and wet stone flavours are accented with a slight hint of fennel. The focused length and fresh acidity makes this wine extremely versatile; enjoy as an aperitif or with food.

Foxes Island 2007 Chardonnay

Belsham Estate Vineyards

Chardonnay was the first wine I ever made at Foxes Island, vintage 1992. Twenty years on, my passion for producing exceptional Chardonnay has yet to wane and Chardonnay has never lost her pride of place at the Fox House. – John Belsham

The hand harvested grapes for the 2007 vintage came from two distinct Belsham Estate vineyards in Marlborough. The resulting wine is a full bodied style that expresses succulently ripe fruit framed with toasty, creamy notes. The wine’s underlying structure is elegant yet very focused and present. After a year in the making, the wine is cellared for two years in bottle prior to release. Drink now thru 2018

Foxes Island 2009 Sauvignon Blanc

Belsham Awatere Estate

Foxes Island Sauvignon Blancs are designed to age exceptionally well and whose style is a reflection of my 35 years of international winemaking experience. I craft Sauvignons that genuinely taste of place, show integrity and have layers of interest which over time has become a defining signature and a consumer expectation. – John Belsham

The fruit flavours were exceptionally concentrated in 2009; a result of the cool and even growing season and densely planted vines planted on free draining, silt loam with underlying mineral rich, alluvial gravels. The resulting wine offers generous flavours of ripe alpine herbs, wet crushed stone, lime zest, guava and white peach. A fine thread runs through the wines’ core, complementing the creamy texture and long finish. Drink now thru 2016.
